RECENT EVENTS

Kris Clark recognition
At our annual picnic October 4th Andre Sampou presented Kris Clark with a new rake autographed by members, a certificate of appreciation and a gift certificate to a restaurant on behalf of all BARS members to wish her well at her new “digs”. Kris Clark will be leaving the Department of Natural Resources in Barnstable at the end of October for another position in Mashpee. We as members want to wish Kris the best of luck in her new endeavors. She will be sorely missed! But, on a happier note Kris will remain as a BARS member along with her husband Lenny and we’ll look forward to working with them to make the environment a cleaner place.
Ed Dutton and Dale Saad
Dale Saad (formerly of the Health Division) presents Ed Dutton (one of 7 co-founders of BARS) with a framed certificate of authenticity and his beloved wooden ladle. The story goes that the chowder needed stirring and Ed couldn’t locate a stainless steel ladle; so he got the next best thing…a branch. But not just any old branch! While Ed was shaving the old wood off, Dale arrived to do her inspections. Lo’ and behold Dale saw Ed about to put his wooden ladle into the pot. She asked him what was in his hand and he replied in Ed Dutton fashion, “a stick”. Dale confiscated “the stick” and fortunately for Ed someone found a stainless steel ladle. Meanwhile Dale took “the stick” and hung it on her wall where it remained until the day she took it down to be framed. Way to go, Ed!
